C188 a pair of early spindle chairs also by the company Josef Hofmann. What is interesting here is the chair seat is not caned but plywood with an embossed seat
First they were perforated with holes in patterns in aprox 1877 , then by 1888 they started to use embossed seats as above So this pair of chairs were made between 1888 and 1896.
Originally mass produced chairs from 1862 had caned or upholstered seats, however as time went by to cut costs plywood seats were used
