Bentwood Settees

This settee is model Number 4 it was made by J and J Kohn. The fabric has been changed over the years, but it has always been upholstered as the seat under the fabric is in original condition.

Also in the collection there is a later example, by J&J Kohn but has a label saying Austria so after 1891

The next one has no markings. Though it is similar to Thonet number 1 and 2 is not the same. Notice the back of the settee, it is made from one long piece of wood. In this case same as number 1

This is not marked but it is in Thonet catalogue of 1904 Number 81. When it was purchased it had been upholstered but it would have originally been caned so I had re-caned

The next is also in Thonet's 1904 catalogue, Number 411, but as an addition for 1904 so is after this date. The cane on the back has been replaced

This one is by J&J Kohn 67c which is in the 1916 catalog. It has a damaged seat with a slight loss of veneer and water mark damage.
The stamp J&J Kohn Wsetin Austria makes it after 1891
This next one is by Fischel, it also has a matching armchair (Fauteuil 125) which is in the 1915 catalogue however the settee is not mentioned

Finally there is a set a Settee (with pair of armchairs) made by Ungvar Ungarn
